The Purpose of Oak & Iron Outdoors

Functional strength training for the outdoors.

The name Oak & Iron represents the two components of what this site represents. “Oak” stands for the hunting & fishing component. Iron stands for the metal that we must move to improve our physical & mental edge. We teach functional strength for the outdoors. If you're here looking for the latest bodybuilding info or how to set powerlifting records you're going to be disappointed. However, if you're here to learn how to increase bow pulling strength or how to save your shoulders for a kayak paddle, then you're in the right place.

Matter of fact, most of my personal training clients are those who have never lifted weights before or stuck to a cardio program. Oak & Iron is designed just for these individuals. However, we will divulge into the advanced tactics & functional training for the outdoors as well.

Oak & Iron is about strength & endurance training, weight loss, mental toughness, eating our “organic” quarry & of course those old school hunting & fishing skills.

Essentially, Oak & Iron Outdoors is:

  • How to get physically & mentally stronger for our outdoor pursuits no matter what age or condition you are in.

  • Conservation and leaving nature a better place than we found it

  • A positive attitude at all times. The world can be mean and mother nature can be harsh. It all starts with a positive attitude to help us get thru it

  • Eat what we harvest and grow. The organic lifestyle starts with us. Consuming what we hunt, fish and farm.

  • Choosing the hard path. For some of us, we got out of shape or overweight because we got into the habit of choosing what is easy. Take the path that is difficult, is how we grow.

Oak & Iron Outdoors is NOT:

  • About Bro-science. Oak & Iron is about functional strength & real science for our outdoor pursuits and those looking to turn that corner, possibly for the first time in their life.

  • A place of profanity. Young folks frequent these sites and there is no reason to use cuss words.

  • Discriminatory. Everyone is welcomed here. And every fish & game trophy is in the eye of the beholder. It doesn’t matter if you use a crossbow or a longbow. Whatever gets you outside.

  • Absolute. If you fish, hunt or lift you know that what works for you may not work for the next person.

  • For illegal drugs such as anabolic steroids, human growth hormone, etc. We promote the natural process of training as God intended.

I hope you find Oak & Iron Outdoors a resourceful site to help you on your outdoor journey. Hunt, fish & be strong.
